“ I've been really sad since Viengthong closed down and really wanted my fix of Lao food, so I decided to come here! I got the Lao sausage plate and the nam khao. By the time the food came out, I was confused because I had ordered sticky rice to go with my sausage instead of jasmine rice. Turns out they serve the sticky rice like a bowl of jasmine rice (sticky rice is typically served in a woven basket). Other than that, the sausage was well made and aromatic due to the lemongrass/spices. As for the nam khao, it was pretty good with good portioning. Service was great! If I had a checklist of what makes a server great, they checked off every bit. It was nicely decorated with a hint of modernism and traditional themes. An extremely nice bathroom that provides goods for the ladies if they're in need! Bad part was the music playing. It did not suit the restaurant culture or vibes. ”
“ Came for lunch on a rare sunny Saturday in January. We had a group of 5 so we were able to make a reservation. We did arrive right at 12 when the restaurant was empty. By the time we left an hour later, it was full! We all enjoyed our food immensely. The famous burger did not disappoint, although there were no sides. My Phad Lao was bright and flavorful. The acidity was just right, although I could have used more heat. Our server was friendly, attentive and informative. ”
“ Have been to Taurus Ox twice and was consistently impressed twice by the quality of food and cocktails! My favorite dish here is the Nam Khao. So many different textures and complementary flavors. Crispy rice is incredibly underrated. The lettuce wraps are fresh and make the perfect conduit for the savory warm salad. Was thinking about this dish for a while. Second favorite is the Thom Khem. Well made, pork belly is delicious and the brussel sprout hash brown is a textural and savory addition that elevates the dish really well. The sausage is well made too. Can't remember if it came with a sauce but it was juicy regardless. The spring rolls are worth the purchase, not your same old spring roll experience. I had brought friends to Taurus and hyped up the experience. This was their first bite and they were really excited to experience the rest of the meal after. It set the tone. The Lao Burger is filling and delicious. They're known for their burger but I prefer some of the other dishes since they represent Laos cuisine more uniquely and traditionally. However, if you're into burgers, this is a good one. Loved the pickled onions. Papaya salad was average. Yellow Gaeng as well. Cocktails are pretty well thought out - I enjoyed the Tamarind Marg and the Phet Phet Pepper Garden. Traditional Laotian ingredients made for a spicy and compelling cocktail! Service was great and ambience was lovely - loved the bull/longhorn motifs and lighting. High on my recommend list! ”
“ Taurus Ox is a treat if you've never tried Laotian food. I've walked past this restaurant multiple times during the day and finally decided to try it. Came here around 6:15 and was seated right away with party of 3. They take resys if you have more than 5 people but otherwise it's walk-in. The restaurant was already pretty full with a couple of empty tables left. Lovely atmosphere, quick service, and very flavorful food. Got the papaya salad, Lao sausage entree, thom khem and the burger. Everything was good but a little on the spicy side if you're normally a mild spice level person. Prices are reasonable and portions are good. Would be back if I'm in the mood for Laotian food! ”
“ Among the best Laotian food that I've ever had. Was visiting a Southeast Asian buddy in Seattle, and Taurus Ox was his recommendation. We had a variety of dishes to try out to include the classic Lao Sausage, Chicken Laap, and the Thom Khem. The Thom Khem dish was special, but the favorite is going to be the Laotian Sausage. ”
“ One of my favorite burger places in Seattle. Their menu is unique and the flavors in the food reflect this as well. My all-time favorite is the Lao burger that simply melts in your mouth and had a good crunch from the taro stem. It's very juicy and flavorful. If you're undecided on what to get, I would highly recommend the Lao burger! The staff were very nice. They gave us proper time to order so we didn't feel rushed and promptly brought out the food. The ambiance is not exactly causal or fancy but you could opt for either! Very nice lighting. ”
“ I hadn't been to Taurus Ox since they upgraded from their small corner location to this much larger restaurant and I can't say whether the rest of their dishes have improved, but the five star burger continues to blow my mind. This one dish is just so unique and absolutely delicious that it simply never misses. The blend of pork, beef, cheese, and pickles is just unbeatable and because I find myself literally daydreaming about that bite, I have to upgrade their rating to 5 stars. Their current location still doesn't have a parking lot, but street parking was super easy even on a Saturday night as it's in much more of a residential neighborhood. My partner and I ended up snagging the last table without a reservation at around 7:30 PM, but they did still have some bar seating available. Some other new additions to their menu are their dessert options, which were both amazing when I went! The mango sticky rice has a fantastic contrast of temperatures and textures with the warm, chewy rice; cold mango; and crispy puffed rice. The pandan ice cream had great flavor, though was a little icy in texture, but I absolutely loved the black sesame fried cookie / crisp, which added a bit of salt to the dish as well. ”
